My First Piece of Furniture for Grace
Today I ventured over to Home Depot, acted like I knew what I was talking about, had them cut me a few pieces of oak (2 32″ / 4 22″ to be precise), bought a few wood screws and headed to the house with confidence that I was about to assemble my first piece of furniture from scratch… a book shelf. I’m not talking about buying a book shelf that comes in a big box from Target or Wal-Mart complete with an instruction manual.
No way.
I’m talking about buying the wood, cutting it myself (if I had the tools… I had to use Home Depot’s guys for this… sadly enough), and putting it together from scratch. It was tougher than I thought it would be. And oak is tougher wood than I had assumed.
The following is what took place from this afternoon:

Nicely done!
